The Story
With only sixty guests, Maya and Arga wanted every person to feel seen. We planned a slow day, ceremony at four, long dinner, no rush.
The villa's rice terraces did most of the decorating. We added linen, low florals, and a single long table.
Planning the Day
Most of the planning happened over video calls between Jakarta and Ubud. We sent weekly photo updates of the villa, the terraces, and sample place settings so Maya and Arga could make decisions without flying over every month.
With sixty guests, the guest experience could be personal. We arranged airport pickups, a welcome note in every room, and a short morning walk through the rice fields for anyone who arrived the day before.
On the Day
The ceremony began at four, when the heat had softened and the terraces turned gold. A local priest gave a short blessing, followed by vows the couple had written for each other and read without notes.
Dinner was served along a single eighteen-metre table on the lawn. Between courses, every guest stood to give a toast of one or two sentences, which turned out to be the most talked-about moment of the night.
Highlights
Restraint was the brief. Fewer elements, chosen well, gave the day its calm.
- One 18-metre table for the whole guest list
- Tasting menu of Balinese and Mediterranean dishes
- Handwritten place cards and a short toast from every guest
