The Story
Tiara and Bayu fell for the old-world rooms of a heritage hotel, so we kept the styling restrained and let brass, rattan, and candlelight do the work.
Planning the Day
Hotel Tugu is full of antiques and stories, so our first rule was to add nothing that competed with the rooms. We catalogued the spaces, chose the three that suited the flow of the day, and built a palette of brass, rattan, and warm white.
Tiara's family is Javanese and Bayu's is Peranakan, so the programme blended both. We worked with each family to choose one rite from each tradition and a menu that brought both kitchens to the same table.
On the Day
The morning ceremony took place in the hotel's heritage hall, lit only by daylight and candles. After the vows, guests moved through the courtyard for tea and kue, served on the family's own porcelain.
Dinner was held in the restaurant under its old chandeliers, with a menu of Javanese and Peranakan dishes served course by course. A small string quartet played through the evening, closing with a song from Bayu's grandmother's era.
